Bell & Associates, Inc. has been engaged to recruit our client’s first Assistant Controller. Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller, will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, Treasury operations and state and local tax compliance for assigned region(s), and assist, as needed, with implementation and management of internal control standards, budget preparation, and creation and implementation of transaction-related reporting processes.

Duties/Responsibilities
- The Assistant Controller ensures all transactions for assigned region(s) are recorded in compliance with US GAAP.
- Prepare or review schedules, journal entries and other supporting documentation for compliance with US GAAP.
- Work directly with regional management and staff to prepare monthly financial statements for assigned region(s) in accordance with US GAAP.
- Assist in the implementation, training, and update of financial systems
- Set up and monitor treasury and banking related activities
- Monitor and analyze financial performance of assigned region(s) and provide comprehensive financial updates to home office and regional management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis against budget and other metrics and provide updates to Home Office staff and regional management with actionable data.
- Ensure all state and local tax filings are prepared accurately, filed timely and associated taxes are paid timely.
- Help onboard newly acquired companies, including travel and on-site training for acquired company staff, and perform monthly accounting duties for new companies.
- Assists in annual budget preparation including obtaining input from regional management and staff and provide analysis of past results.
- Assists in the preparation of budgets and proforma data for newly acquired businesses.
- Responsible for monitoring, compliance, and documentation of internal controls to maximize protection of company assets.
- Assist with creating and updating financial policies and procedures by working directly with home office and regional management and ensure the policies and procedures are effectively communicated to those impacted.
- Assist with the annual audit including providing supporting documentation and schedules to the auditors, answering questions, and assisting with preparing the financial statements.
- Travels as needed within assigned territory (<20%).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Treasury and banking management.
- Public accounting experience with big 4 experience is a plus.
- Active CPA license is a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, organization, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills and experience with training staff.
- Able to work independently, with minimal or no supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- Experience working in Sage Intacct and/or QuickBooks.
- Expert user of Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Ability to prioritize workload, while working in a fast paced and challenging environment.
- Experience in an acquisition environment is a plus.
