Bell & Associates has been engaged to find an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our client’s growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and team leadership, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will support the Controller and play a key part in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and driving process improvements. This role will be on track to be promoted to Controller within 1-2 years!
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Assist with audit preparations and work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or assistant controller role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
