Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller has full responsibility for the general ledger and assuring all accounting practices are in compliance with established accounting principles. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller with preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analysis and explanation, annual audit & tax package, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and other ad hoc financial reporting as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full ownership for all general ledger accounts, to include maintaining an understanding of monthly account transaction flows and balances, verifying discrepancies, and resolving account issues.
- Responsible for month end closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and control validations (for example: revenue recognition)
- Preparation and analysis of monthly account reconciliations
- Assure compliance with all accounting policies, and maintain systems/controls to verify such compliance
- Prepare and review monthly financial schedules in accordance with company timetables. Analyze and explain margin variances compared to budget and forecast
- Manage fixed assets, including responsibility for additions, dispositions, and depreciation.
- Oversee the capital expenditure process, including coordination of funding requests and budget tracking.
- Provide support in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and the annual budget.
- Lead cross-functional efforts with procurement and operations to identify and eliminate excess inventory.
- Manage sales tax filings and annual 1099’s
- Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the Finance department.
- Assists with tax preparation and audits.
- Manage ERP reporting and task scheduling for all departments within ERP system.
- Manage the credit card program and any reporting, analysis, and research required in that program. Also develop processes and procedures for this program.

- Perform and execute ad hoc projects as assigned periodically by the Controller.
- Provide project support to the Controller as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
- Manufacturing experience required.
- Experience with standard cost systems and integrated financial software (ERP)
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
- Proven ability to set priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations
- Strong Excel and ERP skills, Epicor experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of integrity/transparency, with ability to work through issues as they arise
