Corporate Accounting Manager

Our Client is a fast growing, multi-state, vertically integrated company. They are expanding the Accounting department and are seeking an Accounting Manager to join the team to primarily oversee daily accounting and month-end close duties, ensuring complete, accurate and timely financials are produced for a set of operating entities. Ensuring the maintenance of support schedules for balance sheet accounts, and audit support is required. This position will manage a team of 2-4 staff accountants. Collaboration with other accounting managers to create a standard repeatable close process will be a major focus. Ability to identify issues in financial statements and to oversee the research and resolution of issues is required. Opportunities to learn more complex technical accounting will present themselves. The successful candidate for this position has a natural intellectual curiosity, a desire to build a process, and takes pride of ownership in their work product. They have either passed the CPA or have intentional plans to do so.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages accurate and timely month-end closing processes including variance explanations on the balance sheet & income statement.
- Prepares, publishes, and communicates timely monthly financial statements.
- Leads the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Researches technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Generates and/or reviews monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manages and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Maintains responsibility for team management and development including training, coaching, and providing feedback on performance.
- Supports other members of the Accounting team as needed and could assume more responsibilities as the company grows.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Greater than five years of overall combined accounting and finance experience including management of employees.
- Core knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and adherence to those.
- Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- High level of accountability for accounting and financial areas.
- Microsoft Suite experience with an emphasis on intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Excellent client service skills with the ability to work cross-functionally, making the tough decisions but with a spirit of cooperation.
- Forward-thinker who is open to new ideas and a desire to try new techniques.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective problem solver with the ability to manage projects.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Required.
- CPA designation or CPA eligible preferred.
