Estimator

$50-60/hr. – Contract, Contract-to-hire

Wichita, KS

Bell & Associates has been engaged to find our client their next Estimator. The Estimator will work closely with engineering, program management, and business development to provide accurate, detailed cost estimates for manufacturing parts, aligning with project requirements and budget constraints.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between internal and external customers to ensure clear communication and alignment on project requirements.
• Use technical drawings and specifications provided in Requests for Quotation (RFQ) to determine labor, material, and process hours for parts, assemblies, and tooling.
• Produce accurate cost estimations from RFQ receipt through final submission to the sales team, considering all relevant factors and variables
• Prepare RFQ’s to obtain quotes from outside suppliers for parts, materials, hardware, and outside processing
• Maintain a comprehensive historical cost database to ensure the greatest accuracy for future bids and estimates
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to gather input on jobs being estimated
• Evaluate and document risks associated with an RFQ or quotation, including internal capability, delivery timelines, material availability, and outside processing requirements.
• Plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of the specific project, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
• Obtain blueprints and order support materials from customers as needed
• Provide oversight, scope, and direction of each project to ensure it remains on schedule in accordance with project requirements
• Responsible for tracking KPIs such as win/loss percentage, budget vs. actual, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Proven experience in aerospace estimating or cost engineering, preferably in the aerospace industry
• Strong understanding of CNC quoting and estimating experience
• Proficiency in cost estimation methodologies, tools, and ERP systems (Epicor, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with strong time management to meet deadlines
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to aerospace projects is a plus
• Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (internal and external customers, suppliers, etc.)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Experience utilizing Catia to interrogate models and assemblies
• Must be able to interpret engineering/tool designs and understand the use/application of learning curves to obtain labor hours for quantity quoted
