The Accountant is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s financial results. Will report directly to Accounting Manager within a team of 5 responsible for over 50 different companies in the healthcare, hospitality, real estate, retail and senior living management sectors.

Essential Job Duties:

Management
1. Oversee and maintain accounting operations of the company and its related companies
2. Oversee and maintain the daily business operations of assigned companies, including but not limited to, business insurance, client contracts, project costing, business licensing and assist with advancement in use of technology.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Ensure that accounts payable are properly recorded and paid in a timely manner
2. Ensure clients are invoiced in a timely manner
3. Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly
4. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
5. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
6. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
7. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
8. Exercise strong leadership skills including communications and teamwork between staff
9. Other duties as assigned.

Reporting
1. Issue timely and complete financial statements by the 12th business day following the month
2. Recommend benchmarks/budgets against which to measure the performance of company operations
3. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
4. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
6. Provide financial analyses as needed

Compliance
1. Monitor debt levels and compliance with any debt covenants
2. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and charged with completing or compiling the data necessary for all company tax filings, such as sales, franchise, payroll, income and business licenses

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
2. At least three (3) years’ experience in accounting or related field with experience at a certified public accounting firm preferred.
3. Strong mathematical and analytical skills
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
5. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
6. Ability to read and analyze financial reports
