Bell & Associates has been engaged to search for a Nurse Practitioner who will be responsible for delivering primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. Works collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a team-based approach to patient care. May specialize in specific clinical areas such as pediatrics or geriatrics.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts patient assessments by collecting health histories through patient and family interviews and chart reviews, evaluating presenting illnesses, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situations, and cultural factors, and performing physical examinations.
  2. Orders and performs appropriate laboratory diagnostics and other screening tests. Consults with physicians and other clinicians as needed for evaluating illnesses and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plans, identifying any health risks.
  3. Develops and implements treatment plans by prescribing or dispensing medications and administering injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Manages minor lacerations. Educates patients and families about medications, treatments, health promotion, and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Communicates case management information to other professionals and community agencies. Documents patient information in medical records, updating charts with examination and test results, diagnoses, medications, and treatments in both written and electronic formats.
  4. Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Acts as a consultant and collaborator to the clinical team within the area of specialty. Maintains patient confidentiality and promotes patient advocacy.
  5. Collaborates with physicians in managing patients’ acute and long-term medical needs, providing monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plans, including triaging patient calls and emails.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, Master of Science in Nursing preferred. Completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a general or specialized practitioner from an accredited program.

Experience: Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting, plus two years of experience as a nurse practitioner.

Other Requirements: Current state registered nurse license, state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority, and current CPR certification.
