Physician Assistant

Bell & Associates is looking for a Physician Assistant that will be responsible for practicing medicine under physician supervision. Responsibilities include conducting examinations, interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and providing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services within the physician-PA relationship. Specialization in general orthopedics, surgery, and surgical subspecialties possible. May also involve roles in education, research, and administration.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Conducts physical examinations, assesses health status, prescribes medications, and treats illnesses, including administering injections and suturing wounds. Collaborates with physicians as necessary and refers complex cases beyond PA scope.
2. Monitors patient therapies and ensures continuity of care.
3. Triage patient calls, evaluate problems, and respond to emergencies, including CPR when needed.
4. Counsels patients and families on preventive healthcare.
5. Maintains patient records and contributes to departmental databases for research purposes.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited physician assistant program.

Experience: Four years of healthcare experience before PA program, plus one year as a PA, preferably in a clinical setting.

Other Requirements: National certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs, state PA license, and current CPR certification. PAs must also maintain 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and undergo recertification every six years.
