Bell & Associates is seeking a PLC Technician in Hartford City, IN.
POSITION SUMMARY
The position is accountable for overseeing manufacturing and technical projects and process improvements. Position will assist with the development and implementation of World Class Manufacturing projects, production, and processing methods. Through application of engineering fundamentals and process control statistical tools, will ensure processes are centered, capable and in control; reduce process variations; and resolve special causes of variation. The position is also accountable for ensuring safety and environmental compliances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure preventative / predictive maintenance on equipment, machinery, tools, and document PM through the Maintenance Manager.
- Review and inspect equipment daily for safe and proper operating conditions.
- Submit requests to General Manager for proper approval and authorization for machine replacement parts, equipment, or components.
- Follow all safety precautions on repairs to equipment, machinery, and tools per MPI’s / OSHA requirements.
- Any other job deemed necessary by the Machine Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate improvements in developing and continually improving the manufacturing processes in a Lean work environment.
- Participate in manufacturing project teams which analyze process variations; develop solutions and implement corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of these variations in the process.
- Responsibilities include the design and/or development of new process systems and/or revision of existing processes; and developing and coordinating implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to profitability.
- Assist with preparing programs for computer control systems.
- Responsible for preparing and coordinating operational information and data for plant management.
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Responsible for PLCs and motion control systems, including ControlLogix Safety processors and networks.
- Install and improve use of automation, controls, and programming.
- Use proven Lean tools to minimize process variation and improve productivity.
- Follows all safety, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and assignments as required.
- ISO 14001 awareness training.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Skilled trades or Equivalent.
- Some college or technical education with courses in Hydraulic circuits, blueprint reading, components repairs and Electrical circuits.
- Minimum 3 years Operation of an Injection Molding or related machinery.
- Minimum 3 years in skilled trade capacity working on Injection Molding or related machinery.
- Minimum 3 years of controls background.
- Set-up of plastic molding or related machinery.
- Familiar with the principles of hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
- Ability to trouble shoot and repair circuits using schematics, blueprints, and sketches.
- Ability to properly use equipment and tools to check and repair machinery.
- Ability to program PLC and Robotic controllers.

This position requires that the employee be able to move and transport plastic parts that generally do not exceed 10 pounds, without requiring assistance such as a dolly, forklift, or another team member. This position also includes frequent and prolonged periods of standing/walking, pushing /pulling, or moving/lifting supplies. This position experiences frequent/occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motion, and gripping. Must comply with all safety requirements including use of the personal protection equipment required for this position.
