Controller

$150-175k plus bonus

Our client is seeking a high-performing Controller to lead their accounting function and strengthen the financial foundation of a growing, private equity-backed organization. This role is critical in ensuring financial integrity, operational discipline, and scalable processes as they continue to expand.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, direct experience in a manufacturing environment, and the drive to grow within a performance-oriented setting. This is an opportunity for a motivated, hands-on leader who is ready to step into a key finance role with meaningful visibility and impact, while continuing to develop toward more senior leadership over time.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

• Lead core accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Deliver accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements

Private Equity & Stakeholder Reporting

• Support PE sponsor reporting requirements, including board packages and performance metrics
• Partner with executive leadership to provide clear financial insights and analysis
• Assist in preparing materials for board meetings, lenders, and investors

Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance

• Oversee cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
• Partner closely with operations to improve cost visibility, labor and overhead allocation, and margin performance
• Drive financial discipline across production, procurement, and supply chain functions

Process & Controls

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and reporting accuracy
• Support audit readiness and manage external audits

Cash Management & Working Capital

• Support cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital optimization
• Partner with operations to improve inventory turns and reduce excess or obsolete inventory

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Collaborate with leadership on annual budgets and rolling forecasts
• Monitor performance against plan and provide variance analysis with actionable insights

Team Development

• Support development of accounting staff and contribute to building a high-performing team
• Promote accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the function

Systems & Scalability

• Help improve ERP and financial systems to support growth
• Contribute to system enhancements and process standardization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated growth and increasing responsibility
• Direct experience in a manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or industrial environment
• Strong foundation in cost accounting, inventory management, and production-related financial processes
• Experience in a private equity-backed company or high-growth environment is a plus
• Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors
• ERP system experience
• Demonstrated drive, accountability, and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail with high standards of accuracy
• Ownership mindset with a strong work ethic and growth orientation
• Clear communicator with the ability to translate financial data into business insights
• High integrity and sound judgment
• Willingness to be hands-on while developing broader leadership capability
