Senior Financial Analyst

Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client recruit a Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this position will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, cost analysis, and financial decision support within a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong financial modeling and analytical skills along with a solid understanding of manufacturing finance, product costing, inventory, and fixed assets. This person will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Sales, and other departments to understand cost drivers, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate financial data into actionable recommendations for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual budgets and maintain rolling forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making
• Build and maintain three-statement financial models covering the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Perform detailed cost and variance analysis against standards and budgets, including volume, price, and mix drivers
• Communicate financial results, trends, and key drivers to management
• Develop, maintain, and improve product costing systems, including standard costs, burden rates, and manufacturing variance analysis
• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate cost of goods sold reporting and inventory valuation
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Sales to understand cost drivers and identify efficiency opportunities
• Support pricing decisions, cost-reduction initiatives, and profitability analysis across manufacturing operations
• Prepare monthly reporting on cost trends, margin performance, and production efficiency
• Identify and pursue opportunities to improve costs, margins, and overall financial performance
• Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including capitalization, depreciation, and asset disposals
• Partner with project sponsors to develop capital project budgets, ROI analyses, and other financial justifications
• Track capital projects and construction in progress (CIP), coordinating with plant and project managers to ensure timely asset activation
• Conduct physical fixed asset audits and reconcile assets to financial records
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies related to capitalization and asset classification
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory and fixed assets
• Support compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
• Provide documentation, analysis, and support for internal and external audits
• Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of financial analysis and/or cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, product costing, and manufacturing finance
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated financial modeling experience
• Strong understanding of the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting
• Experience with fixed asset accounting and capital project tracking
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with operational and financial leaders
• Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives preferred
