Bell & Associates has been engaged to find our client their next Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in supporting the CEO to oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and risk management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and regulatory compliance, with determination to grow and a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Assist in developing and implementing financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company’s objectives.
  • Assists in conducting financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting, to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Assists in preparing annual budgets, long-term financial plans, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Assists in preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Assists in compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls, coordinating internal and external audits as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance.

Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Assist in implementing cost control measures to optimize operational expenses and enhance profitability.
  • Assists in analyzing cost trends and variances, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts, agreements, and procurement processes to minimize risk and maximize value.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, developing strategies to mitigate and manage risk exposure.
  • Monitor market conditions, regulatory changes, and industry trends, while providing insights to senior management to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Aid in establishing and maintaining internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Assist in leading a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, legal, and regulatory affairs, to support business initiatives and drive operational excellence.
  • Work closely with CEO in day-to-day job functions to grow and develop skills for advancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles,
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial management software, QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the construction / utility industry or a regulated environment is a plus.
