Design Engineer

Bell & Associates

Bell & Associates is seeking a Design Engineer, the selected candidate responsible for developing and executing mechanical designs as well as improving the design of existing products. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the company engineering and production teams, as well as customers, to create products that are application functional, maintenance-friendly, and
manufactured to a high-quality standard.

  • Develop detailed designs for new products or modifications to existing products using 3D CAD software.
  • Perform engineering analyses to verify the strength and durability of design concepts.
  • Estimate cost limits and budgets for new designs and changes.
  • Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production.
  • Write technical specifications for purchased materials and components.
  • Interface with suppliers to select off-the-shelf components that meet design requirements.
  • Support the prototype build process, including assembly and testing.
  • Investigate field issues, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions.
  • Participate in design reviews, presenting technical information clearly and concisely to cross-functional audiences.
  • Update drawings and models to reflect changes resulting from design reviews.
  • Maintain existing engineering records and designs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technology and industry trends.
  • Adhere to company quality standards and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a design engineer with a solid portfolio of work.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software, including Solid Edge or Solid Works.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other popular design software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a design engineer.
  • Working knowledge of FEA analysis software
  • Experience with project management.
  • Leadership experience
