Operations Manager – Construction

$125-150k plus bonus

Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Operations Manager. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Operations Manager plays a crucial role in the efficient functioning of the entire company. Responsible for coordinating and dispatching construction equipment, vehicles, and personnel to various job sites, this role ensures timely and organized project execution. This role requires strong communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a deep understanding of construction logistics.

Responsibilities

– Coordinate and schedule construction equipment, vehicles, and personnel based on project requirements.

– Maintain an up-to-date database of available resources, including equipment specifications, availability, and maintenance schedules within company software.

– Dispatch construction crews and equipment to job sites promptly and efficiently.

– Virtually monitor ongoing projects and adjust resource allocation as needed to meet changing demands and priorities. (As directed through set processes and superintendent requests.)

– Serve as the point of contact between construction crews, project managers, and office staff.

– Relay important project details, instructions, and updates to field personnel in a clear and concise manner.

– Maintain accurate records of dispatched resources, job site locations, and project timelines with company software.

– Fill daily, weekly, and monthly reports on resource utilization, job completion status, and incidents for management review.

– Address logistical challenges and scheduling conflicts effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.

– Collaborate with project managers and field staff to develop solutions for unexpected issues that may arise during construction operations.

– Maintain positive relationships with vendors and address their inquiries or concerns related to construction activities.

– Uphold the company’s reputation for professionalism and reliability through excellent customer service.

Requirements

– High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or a related field is a plus.

– Experience in dispatching operations, preferably within the construction industry.

– Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

– Proficiency in using dispatch software and other relevant tools.

– Knowledge of construction equipment, vehicles, and safety protocols.

– Willingness to learn.

– Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions to resolve issues effectively.

– Flexibility to work some overtime hours to assist office staff.

– Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a plus.
