Project Engineer (Firmware)

Bell & Associates is seeking a Project Engineer for a client in Milwaukee. The selected candidate will create industry-leading logistics software and IoT solutions that improve our customers’ experience by increasing productivity, safety, maintenance, throughput outcomes within their warehouse and manufacturing environments. We are looking for a passionate Firmware Project Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in building out our next generation of IoT embedded solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform independent design of software modules and sub-systems, with particular focus on IoT network applications.
  • Lead engineering sub-teams (as assigned), develop project schedules and set attainable goals.
  • Design, write, debug, test and integrate software modules into larger systems.
  • Research and Develop software/firmware utilizing C and C++.
  • Support all phases of engineering to ensure projects run smoothly and targets are met.
  • Manage concepts from ideation to completion by orchestrating a variety of roles, responsibilities, technologies, and partnerships.
  • Attend field trips to install/troubleshoot software prototypes (possible overnight travel).

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Software Development, Computer Science or Electrical engineering, and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training. Master’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus.
  • Proven experience with firmware design, in both C and C++
  • Proven experience with IoT Network applications
  • Working knowledge of embedded software development tool chains
  • Working knowledge of the Software Development Life cycle.
  • Working knowledge of edge-based AI/ML is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with groups that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, vendors, contractors, or clients.
  • Be able to identify problems, perform analysis and offer solutions.
  • Strong communication skills within the development team and with cross functional teams.
  • Product liability awareness, and excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Be able to be self-reliant when needed and be able to research or learn new design concepts.
  • Strong computer skills, including Linux, Windows, MySQL and VM
  • Experience with QML, Modbus, https and MQTT is a plus.
