Bell & Associates has been engaged to find our client’s next Sr. Financial Analyst – Corporate Development.  The Senior Analyst will contribute to the company’s efforts to originate and execute new investments in the North American power industry. The Senior Analyst will actively analyze market developments and aid in execution of M&A transactions that support growth objectives. In addition, the Senior Analyst will support other strategic corporate initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Analytics – applying rigorous critical thinking to potential investments, including financial, economic, market, and other considerations
  • Project Management – efficiently and effectively managing assignments from initiation to completion
  • Research and Analysis – investigating industry activities and trends to develop meaningful insights
  • Communication – conveying complex information clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal communications with colleagues, management, and external parties
  • Learning – proactively identifying and absorbing relevant information about the industry and Tyr’s business, to provide meaningful input into investment decisions
  • Due Diligence – documenting and analyzing investment information to identify and mitigate risks inherent in potential investments

Specific examples of activities include, but are not limited to, preparing investment committee presentations, analyzing power markets and industry transaction data, analyzing financial and operational data, reviewing and assessing commercial agreements, building complex and dynamic valuation models, organizing and managing virtual data rooms, and working with consultants, counterparties, and partners.

This position requires deep analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and strong relationship skills to work effectively with internal team members, senior leadership, and external parties. Consistent with most transaction-oriented functions, travel requirements and working hours are variable and driven by deal flow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, engineering or a related field with a strong academic record
  • Superior financial modeling skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Solid understanding of and practical experience with finance, project finance, and accounting principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Integrity and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of professionals
  • Highly motivated and self-driven with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over work product
  • Effective working both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact confidently across all levels of an organization
  • MBA, CFA, CPA or other advanced degree or certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or the power/energy industry preferred
